In the first match, Haughton controlled the game from the start, only slipping up in the final set where they got off to a slow start. Thankfully the team got back into the game to win the final set 25-19. One of the most significant contributions to the match was a serving run from Damo Reed - he made 9 serves in a row, with 3 aces!
Haughton didnt have to wait long for their 2nd win of the season, with a thrilling comeback against Northampton Sparks. Haughton got off to a lazy start in their second match, losing the first 2 sets but Northampton started to tire after their previous 5 set match against Wigan. In the 3rd set Haughton got into their stride, helped by an 8 serve run by Jack Butcher. With the 4th set won, the boys got off to another slow start, going down 8-3 in the fifth set, however, they fought back to win the fifth and final set 16-14.
Kevin Burks, who played the Libero position, was nominated as MVP for both of the games, due to his fantastic passing on the back of the court, picking up lots of balls and putting great passes onto the setters head.
